Nissan has launched the NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network, a new service that streamlines the electric vehicle (EV) charging process for Nissan ARIYA owners. The service, integrated into the MyNISSAN app, provides access to over 20,000 public charging stations across Canada, allowing users to locate chargers, check real-time availability, and process payments all within a single application.
The new network aims to enhance the EV ownership experience by consolidating vehicle management and public charging functions. Users can store a default payment method in the app and initiate charging sessions with a simple tap on their screen when at a compatible station. Currently, the network includes partnerships with ChargeHub, Shell Recharge, and Tesla charging networks, with plans to expand to additional partners in the future.
Expanding Charging Options
In a move to further increase charging accessibility, Nissan plans to introduce a North American Charging Standard (NACS) adapter for ARIYA drivers later this year. This adapter will enable ARIYA owners to charge at Tesla Supercharger locations, significantly expanding the available charging options. Looking ahead, Nissan intends to equip its EVs with built-in NACS ports starting in 2025 for the Canadian and U.S. markets.
The NISSAN ENERGY Charge Network is part of Nissan's broader strategy towards sustainable mobility, as outlined in the company's Arc mid-term business plan. This initiative aligns with Nissan's goal to launch 16 new electrified models globally by the end of fiscal year 2026.
While the new charging network service is currently available for the Nissan ARIYA and future EVs, it does not extend to the Nissan LEAF. LEAF owners can continue to use the NissanConnect EV and Services app for charging station searches.
