The Nissan Rogue, one of Nissan's most successful models, presents a significant enhancement with the integration of a 1.5-litre Variable Compression (VC) Turbo engine. This engine redesign offers drivers an increase in power and improved fuel efficiency. When paired with a new responsive transmission, the engine outputs a robust 201 horsepower and 225 lb-ft of torque, an improvement of 11 percent and 24 percent, respectively, over previous models.
Fuel efficiency is a prime feature of the new powertrain, recording an impressive estimated 7.6 L/100km combined (AWD), despite the power increase. The VC-Turbo engine utilizes state-of-the-art high/low compression ratio technology, offering two distinct driving profiles - dynamic performance and eco/efficient, adapting to the driver's requirements seamlessly.
Building on the success of the 2.0-litre VC-Turbo 4-cylinder, first introduced in the 2019 INFINITI QX50 and the 2019 Nissan Altima, the 1.5-litre VC-Turbo engine in the Rogue marks a new chapter in Nissan's powertrain innovations.
The new engine is further optimized with features designed to enhance acceleration, fuel economy, and emission control. Enhancements include a new high-pressure fuel injection system, a vacuum low-pressure die-cast cylinder head for enhanced engine cooling, and a revamped engine mounting system for improved vibration isolation and high torque support.
The introduction of the 1.5-litre VC-Turbo engine underscores Nissan's NEXT transformation journey, reflecting the automaker's commitment to constant product advancement. "The new 1.5-litre VC-Turbo engine enhances real-world utility while amplifying the thrill of driving," commented Steve Milette, President, Nissan Canada. In a similar vein, Jill Young, Senior Manager, Chief Marketing Management, Nissan Canada, added, "This is the most sophisticated engine Nissan has ever engineered."
